I graduated from a four-year masters degree in Product and Furniture Design from Sheffield Hallam University in July 2016. Throughout the course I developed a passion for contemporary furniture design and manufacture. I spent the majority of my degree in the university's workshops which is where I developed designs, not only on CAD but through full scale modelling.

I gather inspiration from many different forms including architecture, art, sculpture and the natural environment due to my background in art and photography.

Since undertaking a six-month placement at Handspring Design in Sheffield, I have become particularly interested in steam bending and pushing hardwood timber to it's limit. The curved shapes that can be achieved through the process I feel has a close connection with the nature and reflect well with my design style.

Design has always been much more than just about aesthetics for me, but rather the way a person interacts with a design and the interior environment it creates. It is about solving problems and making life easier and more enjoyable.

Throughout my final year at university I began to explore upholstered furniture design as it is an area that has always interested me and a sector I would like to explore further in future.
